Rita's Entry: Monday Jan 23, 1911
Fooled with Helen and Tin. Got some harmony. Went down for lesson at 11:30. Late. Got along pretty weel. Am to have Rode Concerto instead of sonata now. After girls left, fooled. Had to take fiddle down to Wagner & George to have bridge put in. Met Tin. Bo't concerto at Lyon & Healys. After dinner played. Mr. S amused us. Retired awfully early. 9:30.
IN RITA'S DAY: Lyon and Healy in Chicago, pictured above, was one of the largest music publishers in the world and sold new/antique pianos, violins and other instruments. The "store" was very imposing and included a reception area.
Judy's Entry: Sunday, Jan 23, 2011
No church for me today. Went to look at a house my daughter and her husband are thinking about buying. I went with her mother and father-in-law. There were just too many of us there giving opinions. The house is a sort of fixer upper and they are nervous about it. I am going to try to stay out of it. Practiced a bit, talked to kids, watched football.
TODAY: Lyon and Healy has a modern look (above). The store has undergone many changes, including new buildings after several fires. Today L&H only deals in harps.
